Protecting Pavement During Heavy Removal
We got a call from a homeowner in the West End dealing with a cracked slab from a late 90s addition that finally gave up. The concrete was roughly six inches thick with rebar mesh, meaning standard disposal bags weren't going to cut it. He worried about the weight cracking his main driveway if we dropped a heavy container right on the asphalt. If we didn't handle the placement right, he'd be trading one broken slab for another.
I drove out with our 10-yard reinforced dumpster, specifically designed for heavy aggregates like concrete and dirt. We laid down thick wooden boards to distribute the weight and protect the existing pavement before rolling the bin off the truck. The low walls made it easy for his crew to wheelbarrow the debris straight in without throwing out their backs. We hauled five tons of rubble out the next morning, leaving his driveway scuff-free.
Mateo's crew protected my driveway perfectly, and that heavy concrete was gone before noon.
